out of a the War of Northern Aggression era railroad spike. I got a bunch of spikes for a abandoned railroad that runs through the pine barrons. It use to take cannon balls to Camden from Batsto NJ. I was just testing out my new forge and playing around with the spike. I left it old looking and weather beaten and rusted somewhat. I didn't want to polish it up, but can. I gave it to my son. I almost forgot to dip it in oil to harden it. The first one i made, broke, during the forging process. I can and will make a lot better looking knife. I learned how to make pineapple handles and twisted handles. Like I said, I was just screwing around, so this is no way a good knife. I can tell you one thing, it is sharp as hell. Will cut paper with ease. I also cut a few other things to test the blade for sharpness. Oakie

It looks nice, but why is it bent? That part I don't understand.

My son wanted a curved handle. I gave it to him to put in his knife collection. Him and I are gonna work on one together, so I can teach him how to do it. The book we received, got us both interested. It took off from there.[:)]
I have a couple railroad spike knives, not bad there oak. You should use up old mower blades too. There is a guy that sells them at Hillsville, he makes the knives and his wife makes the leather sheaths. He sells a ton them. Some of the guys YouTube are backed with orders by 6 months.
Thanks, I will have to get a few mower blades. Good idea. Oak
