out of a the War of Northern Aggression era railroad spike. I got a bunch of spikes for a abandoned railroad that runs through the pine barrons. It use to take cannon balls to Camden from Batsto NJ. I was just testing out my new forge and playing around with the spike. I left it old looking and weather beaten and rusted somewhat. I didn't want to polish it up, but can. I gave it to my son. I almost forgot to dip it in oil to harden it. The first one i made, broke, during the forging process. I can and will make a lot better looking knife. I learned how to make pineapple handles and twisted handles. Like I said, I was just screwing around, so this is no way a good knife. I can tell you one thing, it is sharp as hell. Will cut paper with ease. I also cut a few other things to test the blade for sharpness. Oakie
