Now it's time to pick on the yankees [:D]

It's been awhile since I've been up here and subjected to this hillarious accent and this trip has been entertaining. When I get around Canadians I always say "eh" trying to bait them into going into full auto "eh" mode and it works most of the time [:D] When up here I adjust my chameleon accent and act like I'm from Boston just to get them going, it works well [:D]

This trip back, I have a load of lumber on but up here it's called Lumbah. A glass of water is whatah, numbers are numbahs, Boston is Bahstun or Bahstin depending on what side of Boston they are from.

The one that cracks me up is the town of Worcester, not really sure how y'all will pronounce it but up here it's called Wooshtah! Not even close to the spelling but if you say Wooshtah the locals know exactly what you're talkin about.

So I guess we can go warsh the cah then go to the bah and get a bee'ah, know what I'm sayin?!

This reminds me, Adam Sandler, Tollbooth Willy, gonna have to look that up since I haven't heard that one in awhile [:D]

That's why my Spelling sucks. I spell it like I say it. Wonder what my Accent sounds like cause I'm from the west coast and Calif a lot of those years.

I remember stopping and ordering a tuna sandwich in the middle of Maine. I asked the lady who took my order how long it would be and she replied 45 minutes. I asked why so long and she told me the sandwich would be ready in just a few minutes but she wanted me to stay cause she liked the way I talked.

"Wooster" is the centuries-old carryover from the English pronunciation. (Hey, they do call it NEW England.) the Shire of Worcester is where the famous sauce comes from. So the sauce was and still is "Woostershur"
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

"Spotted" refers to the dried fruit (such as currants and raisins) in the pudding. "Dick" may be "corruption of the last syllable of pudding," a "corruption of dough," or a reference to the German meaning of "dick" (thick or viscous).
    I had to google it.

If you get far enough North in Canada the phrase often heard is: right, ya know, eh?

Oh, and a friend from Beantown educated me about the car/cah. lumber/lumba 'thing'.

If the 'r' is on the end, it's pronounced 'ah'. If the 'r' is within the word, it's pronounced 'r'.

Thus you can park the cah in the yard.

We went to Ohio once....I stopped at a Starbucks to get coffee. I wish I had a video of the interaction....the face on the gal who took my order was PRECIOUS. I'm guessing the same reaction would happen if a talking chicken had walked in and started ordering.

I'd LOVE to got to Boston just to order coffee and see what face they made when I started speaking. Plus, it would be awesome to go somewhere that had a prominent accent that was as inescapable as my own

I spent 3 weeks in "Woostah" doing a hostage rescue school. I almost needed a translator for at least the first two. To this day I'm not real sure what some of those guys were trying to say.

Back in High School a girl from up in that area moved to town with a heavy accent.

She couldn't figure out why everyone would start laughing when I asked her to say, "Pop a Cork".[:0][:D]
