Petzl Ascenders Question

I have a pair of Petzl ascenders that I have never used (the other used pair were given away quite some time ago). I am too old to use them anymore. I am curious as to if there might be of any value to put them on the auction side - if and when Horse Plains Drifter's wife can coach me how to use my cell phone and get the picture into my laptop.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. Best Regards - AQH

I always used Jumars. There are some guys that collect old climbing gear. I still use a lot of mine for other stuff.

Great, now I'm hungry for pretzels and mustard.

I knew this was going to happen. Now I have to get out the Tostitos hint of lime chips - chunky salsa - and a Cerveza Modelo Negra.
On a more serious note as soon as I am capable of posting a picture here - I will post showing that they are new-in-the-box-never-used and hopefully you can give me more guidance then. The harness stays with me as I have other uses for it. Best Regards - AQH

AQH - I managed Campmor for apprx 23 yrs. (High end outdoor equipment store.) Also long time rock and ice climber.

Call 1-800-Campmor and asked to be transferred to the "store," once there, ask for the "climbing counter." You will be speaking with a current gear geek, and climber with all the gear right there in front of him.

Describe what you have. He (or her) can tell you exactly what it currently sells for.

There are several different variety, or I could give you a ballpark. I've also been out of the business for almost 8 yrs.

I gave all my gear to my Son, who is carrying on the tradition. [:D]

You might also log onto their web site (www.campmor.com) and find what you have in the climbing gear section. Store has 5X what the catalog and web offer though.

Many Thanks "Flying Clay Disk" - My rope and harness are not for sale as I have other uses for them. These ascenders are a L&R pair - new in the box. The value you stated is the same as I found on another site. Again - many thanks for the information - Best Regards - AQH

As FCD stated, around $85. I was going to ball park it, but as I said, I've been out of it since 2008. I was not sure how much had changed price wise.

Gentlemen All - even fishkiller41 - many thanks for the responses. When I manage to get into this century and take photos with my cell phone and get them into this computer - I will go through the process of registering for the auction side and put the ascenders up for sale here.

fishkiller41 - my wife wishes she had me on a harness rig like the one in the movie - "Nine to Five" - so that every time I went to the auction side - it would pull me away from the computer.

Best Regards To All - AQH

Thanks FCD, I knew that but had no photos. I have been out of climbing since the late '70s.
