Tell me how I did on this and tell me more about the scope and scope mount. The crosshairs in th scope are fine that get even more fine to where they cross, almost hard to see.
But I love these '03s, last one I had was stolen and sold by my ex along with 20 other rifles in which several of them were expensive long range rifles. I saw this on the rack with the "odd to me" scope and mount setup, shouldered it after checking chamber and magazine and that was it, I'm buying it. Asked the salesman what the Black Friday crazy deal was and when he said $250 I told him I will be right back. Bryann was with me, explained to her how I thought this was a deal not to pass up, she said if I use my change jar I could get it. Took her home called her bluff and went to the shop and counted out $250 in quarters [:D]

I also like the 1903 - you did very good. If you had come up a quarter short I would have gave one to you. [:D]
Can't shead any light on the scope .

Did some lookin around as well and found a couple om ebarf. Looks like the scope and tye mount alone was worth the $250. Going to tale it out and shoot it later today if this wind dies down. If it shoots well I may have just bought my new favorite deer rifle!
When I was at Trap55s place a few weeks ago I mentioned to him about wanting to replace the one the ex sold, score!
As others here have said, you stole it.
Cool to see that I'm not the only one with "fat" thumbs[:o)][:D]
The Balvar was one of the best for its time.
That sucker is as clear if not more clear than my Nikons! I love the fading crosshairs, mich cleaner than the duplex I'm used to.

One down![8D] Nice score Lonnie!
I see you've got your work cut out for you though.
Seems that every screw on that piece is boogered!
It never ceases to amaze me how someone will do that!
"Hold on, while I whip this out." [:D]
What an awesome, classic movie!!
Almost a good as "Young Frankenstein."
Looks and buggered screws aside I'm about as happy with this old gun as a person can get. Recoil feels about like a .308, nice natural feel when shouldered, it is perfect. I don't know why but these sporterized '03s are some of my favorite rifles.
When I was little my grandads nieghbor used to take me deer hunting. I missed a deer with my single shot 30-30 and complained about the open sights. Ol Ed handed me his deer rifle, a sporterized '03 and warned me that the 30-06 was a mans gun and I had better hang on to it. Well I fell in love with the '03 right there and have had several through the years. The last one I had was the perfect gun it fit me like a glove and felt natural to me. When I found out Dorothy sold it I was devastated and just knee I would never replace it. Well by God I just did, I don't get all silly about guns, but this one has me excited as hell [:D][:D]

(And) I know about losing stuff, with the Ex.
Again, nice score. I'm jealous. I have a thing for old Mil. issue, bolt actions.
Mausers, Mosin Nagants, British .303's etc etc etc. Love em'.
As said previously, I'd a been all over that, at $250. You stole it. [:D]
I inherited a few of '03s a couple of years ago. Still haven't had an opportunity to take them out. [V]
Too sad from the passing of their previous owner to get them out and work them over.
I'm happy for you, Brother.

I have an old 303 British with a buggered stock and missing the magazine. If it will bring enough money to make it worth a drive to the PO to ship it I'll list it on auction, but I aint giving it away!
My best shooting rifle is an old sporterized O3-A3 Remington made in 1942. I bought it at a gun show in Montgomery, AL for $275. The old gun smith I bought it from did a pretty good job on it. He put a Douglas barrel on it with a Redfield scope base and rings. He handmade the stock and he did a little jeweling and engraving on it too.
