About 5 years ago, I bought, at a garage sale, a sadly neglected 62..locked up, the slide wouldn't even open. Forarm cracked, a huge square hole chisled in the butt stock...perhaps for a box of .22 shells ? Who knows...bluing mostly gone.
65 bucks seemed like a goodly bit of money for it..so I barganed a bit and took it home. Laying it away, I forgot about it, after a cursory look-over....1939 model, it is...

A couple days ago I ran across it and stripped it down. The firing pin was so gunked up, it was frozen....and the firing pin actuates the slide lock. Cleaning it...(I let it soak all night in solvent..and STILL had to wire brush it)..there was HANDFULS of twigs, dirt, dead mice..(well..almost) inside the action...and it took hours to clean it.

Took it to the range today for a test. Will not feed Winchester lead bullets at all...but Remington Goldens digest without a hitch. Taking a course bead, I rolled 10 of 11 chickens at 70 yards....geeze, it felt good making this little old rifle speak again....
