I am soooo tired of reading the half-truths of "the statistics". Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain) once wrote "There are three kinds of lies, little lies, big lies, and statistics" If you are going to read the statistics read all of the statistics. When you do the math you realize that less than one tenth of 1 percent of the registered weapons in the United States are used in crime. HELLO!!!! THAT MEANS 99.9% OF THE WEAPONS REGISTERED IN THE UNITED STATES ARE KEPT SAFE AND SOUND. A record of performance I would love to see come from the governing body that is trying to regulate us. As to the other 1/10 of one percent, I guess you have to factor in an idiot factor.

rob the idiot factor is also a small percent imo. The rest is the criminal use of guns.

Sleep deprivation must have been sneaking in. Somebody smack me and wake me up. What I was thinking about at that moment was another forum where they were discussing leaving how bad it is to leave guns in cars. Hence, the idiot factor putting guns on the street. But, you are right Badboybob. There are just some bad people who are going to do bad things no matter what. My apology for the incomplete thought.

registered - re' jis terd --- enrolled in an official reportsource of numbers: FBIfactor not considered - unregistered weapons - with that factored in you could probably say that 99.999999% of all registered weapons are used correctly. I guess that makes us purer than Ivory Snow. The point still remains, guns are safe. Unfortunately, a very select few people are not.

Though it is a sad statistic, I am often amused by how many weapons used in crimes were once LE weapons, or were once in LE custody. [This message has been edited by He Dog (edited 11-15-2001).]
