The torrential rains here in SouthEastern Mississippi have exposed a leaky problem around the fireplace flashing. Apparently it has been leaking awhile because the eaves are rotten in that area and drooping. Water is coming down beside the chimney, within the wall, and the carpet is wet and getting wetter. I think it's going to be raining awhile. I have never noticed any water or problems before this.
$1,000 deductible so what do you think? If I report it now will it set off a chain reaction of crap I can't stop,i.e. inspectors, reports, estimates etc. I've heard of insurers gladly paying the bill the dropping the policy.
So if I wait to see how bad it gets, will I be screwing myself for not reporting it on day one? Or just go ahead report it and deal with the outcome, because it could become an expensive mess?
I've never had a claim before, so I'm perplexed. Usually with a car you're better off fixing it than filing a claim.
All advice welcome!!!
