Anyone have a smith & wesson rifle??

I was at a gun shop tonight, they have a smith & wesson .270 with a 3x9x40 simmons scope for $300. The stock on the gun is very nice wood with a great looking shine to it. Anyone have a s&w rifle, are they accurate and are they worth the price?

Yep, I've got a S&W 1500 in 30.06. It was made by Howa and is one of the most accurate guns I own.
dheffley, best to check out this web site to see if your model 1500 falls into the category for a safety upgrade.

Sounds like a good price to me. My Howa and my Savage were the two best "out of the box" guns I have ever had. I would expect it to shoot very well, and if it didn't, I would expect the dealer to stand behind it.
Blackie, you've got mail!

Clouder..
some have a S&W rifle, but "most" won't admit it!
In all reality, even though the S&W rifles weren't looked upon very
favorably, we sold a "ton" of them in the shop I used to work and
never had any complaints or problems.
And I'm comparing that to Rem 700's and Win 70's.
And believe it or not, another rifle-the Ithaca Tikka LSA 55 & 65 that was on the market about the same time was another "sleeper".
It's all what we get "used" to.
S&W makes handguns-Winchester makes rifles
or something like that.
I'd not be scared of it for that price-including scope!
