What's the trick to keep bananas fresh?

I try to find some that are somewhat still green; but after 3-4 days they are overripe. Anyone know a way to make them last longer?

Put them in the fridge.The cold and lack of light slows maturity of the sugars.Always hang your bananas from a hook under a cabinet with a thick rubber band thru the stalks.Put 1/2 the bunch in the refer..
Works for me.

Refrig. If they are getting ripe too soon buy a smaller bunch.

Banana's release ethylene oxide gas, mostly through the stem. Separate the bunch and wrap the stems in plastic wrap.

My kids eat bananas like monkeys but still one or two from every batch gets a little too ripe. Either banana bread or we peel them and put them in the freezer. The kids make smoothies with them. I also find them very useful when getting the dog to take medication. hide it in a piece of banana.
