Sportsmans Wharehouse bought out

A sporting goods store in Bozeman I always visit has been bought out by Sportsmans Wharehouse. What used to be Wholesale Sports is now sporting new signage and the layout of the store changed up some.

Now I wonder, will the buyout have any negative effects(or is it affect?) or will the store improve?

I was in the ammo section looking the ammo over to see if they had anything I needed besides 22s that I know they don't have and I'm wondering if the ammo maybe hasn't come down in price a tad bit. I have a bad memory and sometimes I can't tell you how much I spent at McDonalds 2 minutes after paying but the prices "seem" different. Hell I dunno, all I know is the name of the store changed and it looks weird inside [:D]

Well the only Sportsmans Wharehouse I was in did not have used guns, so I was not impressed.

    Interesting.

We had a Sportsman's Warehouse locally that was bought out by Wholesale Sports, and is now a Dicks.

wasn't sportsman's warehouse the companies original name. before it was taken over and changed ?
seems to me that is what the Missoula store was originally.

They didn't have used guns in there to begin with, bummer.

I don't know about the name change, I've only been going in there for about a year now and it's been Wholesale Sports since I have been going in there.

There used to be a store in Missoula called Sportsmans Surplus, years ago. Was '88-89, the last time I was in there. It was in a shopping center(Trempers?)at malfunction junction.

Used to be a chain called "Popular Outdoor Outfitters For Less". Had several stores in Tucson. Bought a lot of ammo on sale from them, among other stuff. I was a weekly regular for years.

    They never had guns.

Sports Authority beat them up and ran them out of town.

    Drat.

Yes indeed. This place started out as sportsmans warehouse, couldn't make it and was bought/changed to wholesale sports. Now back again?? Don't affect me,I don't/won't do that place.

We used to have 2 here but they left.
The one closest to me had a very knowledgeable guy named Nikki in the gun department, you wouldn't think it just by looking at him though.
IIRC they didn't do anything with used guns.
They Had a great reloading section when they opened but it dwindled to average.
Their prices were better than Gander and service was way better too, not quite as good as Scheels though.

We used to have one that I would go to in Milwaukee. I really liked it. The guys inI archery really took time with my son to get him set up. And the guys in guns (yes they had them) were always really good and available behind the counter.

Was a nice place, it was sad to see them close.

Remember it Armalite? Out on Moreland across from where Quaker Steak & Lube is?

That's the way it was in Missoula. Sportsmans Warehouse first, then bought by Wholesale Sports, now back to Sportsmans Warehouse. Hopefully they'll get their crap together, and actually make an attempt at restocking their shelves now.

HPD, Sportsman's Surplus closed for good a few years ago, when the "old man" decided to retire. His son opened up another shop across town, but it's honestly not even a shadow of the old store. The old store had tons of used guns.

They underwent a serious downturn and contracted about 30%. Things are better now and they are building a few new, and re-buying more of their previous stores. Read it on the men's room wall a couple of days ago.

different store. yes that was malfunction junction. sportsmans warehouse was/is on North Reserve near the Superwalmart. sportsmans surplus-a store locally owned for umptynine years closed last year. still a sporting goods store but caters to a different crowd[no guns] now.

They earned some of my respect for not raising their prices on ARs and ammo during this panic.

Yes I do, they used to sell some nice padded AR15 rifle cases for like $25. I also scored some RCBS reloading tools right before they closed down. I hate to see any gun related places close whether I shop there or not.

I really like the sportsman warehouse here. They have a guy that can't talk that works behind the gun counter who is really great. Has to write everything down for you. If he's not busy an my grandsons with me he always comes around the counter an plays chase with him. He's really an asset to the store.
