Teenager Dies from a Bat bite...'O

...A teenage boy was sleeping with his window open, when a bat flew in and bit him a couple of weeks ago; he died yesterday from rabies.
Anybody here the whole story?...like why no shots??
Happend down in Humble, Texas...just outside Houston.

Always heard the rabies shots are really painful, but dieing of rabies has to REALLY suck...[:0]

He waited too long to seek treatment and had already allowed the virus to get to his brain. The only one to survive this was a young girl who they put in a coma until the body had time to mount a defense. She is still some what brain damaged but is capable of functioning enough to work and have a life. The boy was just too far advanced to have any hope.

It used to be that you recieved a series of of shots with a very long needle in the abdomen. I can testify that they were indeed painful, but probably not as bad as the myth of how painful they were. These days the procedure is different.
