Can you eat them all like Rattlesnake? Do they taste similar (like Flounder)?

I have eaten plenty of rattlesnake but never any other types. But there would be no reason that they would not be edible.

To me rattle snake tastes like froglegs which tastes like gator, which tastes like snapping turtle. All of the reptiles I have ever tasted taste the same to me, and all are edible. I am told monitor is not very tasty, so I do not guarantee all are good.

There is a caveat however: some species of turtles, including box turtles, can eat species of mushrooms that are toxic to humans, and they do so with out harm. Eating those is not a good idea, they can be toxic to humans.

A co-worker was showing me some pictures he took on a hike over Mother's Day, here in Northern Nevada. He stumbled across a rattler den. They were all balled up, doing their mating thing or whatever.

He said several were probably 4-feet long and looked to be almost 4-inches in diameter.

    That's a lot of meat!

Less than you might imagine. About the only muscles large enough to eat run along the spine, outside the ribs. Such a snake would feed you, maybe two people, but not more. You are really only talking about 2 to 3 pounds live weight in a snake that size, and of course you know how much less goes in the freezer.

I ate some type of snake in China and drank a glass of snake wine.
Not sure what kind either were.

The wine is usually Mamushi wine. The mamushi is a small pit viper (smaller than a copperhead) found in Korea, China and so on.

The one you ate could have been anything from a rat snake to a krait. 5 snake banquets supposedly serve snakes of 5 species.

As I remember, it was not too bad, but not a choice I would make everyday.

    What's the matter?

    Subway close down?

I'd eat snake but would pretty hungry first. On the other hand, I'd eat snake before I'd eat possum to put that into perspective.
