Anyone tried Wipe-Out Bore cleaner?

I got some of this in the other day. They claimed that you just sprayed it in the bore and let it sit for an hour. Then you would run a few patches through and they would come out clean on the 3rd or 4th patch. I can't get the stuff to work worth a damn. Anybody else try this stuff?

I don't believe in any easy solution to cleanning my guns. I like to do everything the slow old way. This way I make sure everything is clean and I can FULLY inspect all parts for wear and stress.

I do shoot alot and all my guns hold up very well. I have some that have had 10's of thousands of round threw them and still look like new with very little wear on them. And I like to believe that the way I care for them is the reason for that.

I have used it for a couple of years on guns which fire jacketed bullets. You need to do your normal cleaning with Hoppes, then fill the bore with Wipe Out and leave over night. Then run a couple of dry patches through the bore and you will be shocked by all the blue color. Finish up with a light coat of oil, and you are good to go. Doesn't work on lead.

PJ - I'm not any kind of expert - Your post brought up a question I have had. Maybe somebody here knows the answer....
If you leave any type of oil based cleaning agent over night in a copper fouled barrel - it corrodes the copper. Does this corroding process of the copper in any way affect the surface of the bore??

I have not had any problems with the bores. I am looking at a can right now, and the contents are not listed. Does say it contains no acid or ammonia and cautions it will remove "antique finishes (varnish, shellac, oil & laquer)".

whoever said 1 hr would do it, has very little experience. They make a accelerator that can be applied first, but it still needs a bit of time. The best way to clean with wipe-out is to leave it overnight or better yet, for 24hrs. i fill the bore, then come back in a few hours and run some new foam into the bore, then come back tomorrow. It WILL remove everything copper related. The BLUE GOOP that exits the muzzle is really something to see[:p]

NO, it will NOT harm the bore surface. I leave it in my match tubes for 24hrs and sometimes even longer. Shiny as a mirror in there.

I still use Butch's Bore Shine and Blue Wonder. I see little point in having the job drag on for two or three days.
