I have personally seen fish that are girdled like that from the plastic ring around soda bottles and orange juice containers. I have no shame, if I see somebody littering,I say something to them. Its a shame and people are, for the most part, oblivious to the effects of littering.

That shell would make a neat top for an acoustic guitar.

That would make one hell of a Ukalali. But seriously that 6 pack ring looks too new. I mean that thing should be white and well oxydized. That turtle would've drowned long ago out in the wild. Being a water turtle and that ring would've caught in under water obsticals.

So my thought is someone ringed it. I'll go with a bit of wire.

Photoshopped. Looks to new of a ring. Nothing makes sense about the whole picture. Roger, Donna and I are contributors to the Georgia sea turtle research center on Jekyll Island. We donate 500 dollars a year to them. We go there about once a year and see all the turtles that have been hit by boats, harmed by littering and so on. cool place. You can watch them preform surgery on the turtles and go in the back and see them in these pools. The place is amazing.

Here is a jacket that they sent me and my wife last year.

Yes, gotta be fake for a lot of reasons.
The rings would look a lot worse for the amount of years it would take the turtle to grow that much bigger.
The rings would of also stretched at some point I think.

The biggest question has been left unasked...

I seen no reason to think that has been photoshopped. I suspect the six pack holder has been added for propaganda purposes, but turtles with such strictures have been reported (with images) multiple times in the herpetological literature.

That pic is appalling in that it could easily have been prevented...

When ever a six pack or otherwise plastic ring package comes into the house...
I immediately cut through all the rings before tossing into the recycle bin.
Very easy to do and keeps that from happening regardless of where or how it ends up in the environment.

..When in Missouri, I've stopped several times to move tortoises off the road. I put them in the ditch on the side they were headed for. On cool mornings, they hang out on the road to warm up. They're not water turtles, but either way, I don't see the locals making any effort to miss or move them...[V], but I'm hopeful that some do.

I have stopped to move a turtle off the interstate, and while walking back, watched an 18 wheeler swerve to hit it. Had the .357 not been in the truck, I would have done my best to put that drivers hide on the wall. Probably would have shot him and his truck would have run me down. Too bad for the turtle, and the driver is still a jerk.
