Wasn't Pat McManus in OL? Or am I thinking of another magazine? I used to go straight to the last page first, and read his humor piece, before anything else.

my Dad and I were great fans of camping editor John Jobson( I think he was with outdoor life) We built a couple of his ideas...camp kitchen, contoured horse panyards, truck storage box. I worshiped Jack O'Conner,

When I was a boy I was the only gun owner/ hunter in my entire family. Field & stream and Outdoor life taught me a great deal about hunting, safety and conservation.

+ Pat McManus and I love the series about the grandpa and the kid, dont remember exactly how it was titled. Robert Ruark was a good writer, fellow NC boy.

I think McManus was Field & Stream, it wasn't his Grandpa it was a neighbor named Rancid Crabtree. They were hilarious, Zern was good. I rember Jack O'Conner. Russel Annabel wrote about Alaska for Sports Afield. Gene Hill always had a cool perspective.

I love Ruark's writings, the Africa books The Old Man and The Boy and The Old Man's Boy Grows older.
