If you are afraid to open a letter because of concerns that you will get anthrax -- iron it first. Germ warfare expert Ken Alibek said that the iron's heat and moisture make the bacterium "harmless." Not to mention the fact that cutaneous Anthrax is difficult to contract and can be treated with antibiotics..

Yes, concaeled, while you can die from this, it shouldn't be the germ of choice - not contagious. That's a huge problem for the perps. Small pox is another matter. As old as I am my vaccination isn't any good. The general public hasn't had shots for around 30 years. I served in the mid 60's - not a good time. I just hope the government has the balls and the public has the stomach to see this one through to the end. We havn't been doing that lately.

I'm more worried about nuclear war!India and Pakistan are both making very ugly growling noises; if cool heads do not prevail, things could get very ugly--especially since we don't know how China would react...This is VERY serious business!

In My not very humble estimation, the most dangerous epidemic being spread in the US today is media induced hysteria. From the amount of coverage and "in depth" reporting taking place, one would think the streets were like A scene out of A Stephen King mini-series, as I recall, only ONE fatality, not piles of rotting carcasses jamming the thoroughfares of the nation, more people have died in the past 24 hours from second hand cigarette smoke than have died from anthrax,or any other "glamour germ" despite all the arm waving and hair tousling by our TV journalists.
