The Two-Gun Kid

The two-gun holster was a popular kids' outfit when I grew up, and a lot of TV cowboys wore two matched guns. Cowboys in travelling shows used to do two-gun stunts years ago, using both revolvers in tandem. Then there also seems to be some stigma attached to the idea in some circles. I know some of us will carry a backup occasionally even if we're not in law enforcement. It makes sense that I might choose the other hip for my extra gun in some cases. These are not matching guns. Then the thought crossed my mind, since you carry a compact anyway why not consider two of the same model? I'm not sure that appeals to my collector's sensibilities as much as having a variety of guns, but there is a certain sense to it in terms of practicing with one system, if one wants a backup at all. I was just wondering if there were any thoughts on two-gun carry in general, whether you'd ever do it, and if so, whether you'd use them one at a time or ever consider both drawn at once. I would want to practice before contemplating two guns in action together. Sighting, for one thing, would have to be point-shooting I assume. Then there's the business of the "weak hand." I have seen documentary footage of soldiers in combat with 1911s firing in both hands, but I assume that was necessity of the moment. I know somebody is going to find this silly, but as a topic I've been thinking about it for a while and finally decided to put it up. Of course, you can kid me about Angelina Jolie with her two tricked-out stainless compensated jobs and endless reloads in TOMB RAIDER if you want to. My back is strong.

I've carried two concealed guns before. When I go to Seattle (very seldom) and plan to be on the street after dark I like to be well-heeled.I had my Glock 17 with a 19-round mag. on my left side in a cross-draw holster and my Glock 26 in the middle of my back in a Galco SOB holster.Of course, both of these were set up for my right hand. I figured after I emptied the big Glock if there were still some of 'em twitchin' I'd do a little close tolerance work with the mini.Who, you ask? I dunno. Those crowds of murderous thugs roaming the streets of Seattle, I guess. No reason to go unprepared.
