Anyone own a front deck mower?

I've been thinking about getting one of these.

But without the cab. What are your opinions? I know it's ugly, but so are most ztr's.
I think these are priced reasonable. They would do well on hills. I could get under bushes with it. Plus being able to see the deck, trimming would be easier.
Any down side to having one? I know I'd have to watch out for the swing rear end.

Out here in upstate NY, for doing just lawn that does not have steep grades in it, the ZTR's rule...mainly Dixie Chopper, and more prevailant Ferris. The front mount, as you know will not leave the foot print of the wheels. That one pictured is a good ride, but not really a true ZTR. Not sure, but I am thinking a little compact tractor with a bucket, and 3 point hitch, and mid mount PTO would be of more use for a lady like yourself...Just my 2 cents. Plus, I know you like the green and yellow trimmed ones, but take a look at the orange(Kubota) one's too. They are all made by Kubota...not an engine from yYanmar, and frame from xyz.

that's not a zero turn machine. That's a front mounted mower with rear steer machine. They were good mowers in the 90s. You can even get a snowblower for it.

That looks like what the golf course uses.

I had a kubota in a model like the one you are looking at.

It was 4 wheel drive and very good overall. You could not get anywhere near anything that was soft or wet or it would get stuck very easy. The one you are looking at is a very good price. I paid over 22,000.00 for the kubota with no cab.

Why the cab? To mow in the rain?

Mateo has one without the cab. Don't see much use for a cab, unless you were mowing at a driving range.

I brought one. I'd post pix but I loaned out my camera.
I didn't know about it at first, but it a very easy unit to run. You have a very good view of the deck and the thing will spin on the inside tire.
It's very heavy, but has a diff lock that will help to keep it moving.
Yes it is very ugly, but I just wanted the fastest mower I can get and I didn't want a ztr because of my hills. And this thing is fast.
I got the Yanmar gas. I wish it was diesel, but I found out the gas is the same block as the diesel, so I seeing an engine swap in the future once this engine lets go.

We`ve got a JD just like that one at work.I use it as little as possible. No suspension and on rough ground it will shake you to death.I just recently started mowing because the last guy that mowed wrecked his back useing it.He will require surgery and probably so will I if I have to use it very long.
That being said,it does a great job of mowing. The snow brush on the other hand, is an expensive piece of crap that is very costly to buy parts for.

Years ago I had a Yazoo mower similar to the one linked to at auction. Did OK. Was more a true ZTR than the one in the auction. It only had 3 wheels. You sat right over the rear single wheel. Was a hoss to turn with that steering wheel laying flat in your lap, and no power assist. Bought a new Dixon the other day to replace my 23 year old Dixon and love the new one.
