re BATF vist

I was finally able to talk to a BATF man about my rifle.He said it sounds like it`s ok,but it still has to be visibly inspected. He said several hundred had to be inspected and it would have to be brought to them.They have four days set up for this.The worst part about it is it`s in Detroit.I HATE DETROIT.It is,however close by to where one of the biggest gun shows in the state takes place and I`ve always wanted to go to it.The fact that it is held in Detroit has always kept me from attending. Unfortunatly the next show dates don`t coincide with the inspection dates which are in mid march.I don`t expect any trouble,but will let you all know how it turns out.

    Ask if they are going to pay you mileage, hourly wage hotel room ect. It is their job make them do it.

    Miss Creant-- Outstanding suggestion! They just may pay if asked. I had to testify in a Federal trial one time. The feds paid for my plane ticket, rent car and meals. It was only one day so there was no hotel involved. However, the other witnesses that did stay over had their hotel rooms paid for. The government doesn't go totally first class, but they don't "poor-boy it" either.

    Best of luck with it. Make sure your not breaking some local law by dragging an assualt weapon into detroit. Oh, and i like the idea of making them pay for the trip, the whole trip, and nothing but the trip, so help you God.

    Would`nt mind being paid for the mileage but I would`nt take money for a hotel room as I would never spend the night in that place.I asked about taking it to the local FBI,but that will not do. Different government departments don`t cha know. Sure would have been easier as they are just a few miles away.As for keeping it legal taking it to Detroit I was told to bring it in a case with a trigger lock and absolutly NO AMMO.Kind of figured that went without saying.
