Industry, California-AP -- A California woman has been arrested after her four-month-old son was found dead in a car.

Authorities say the woman left the infant in the car for seven or eight hours Wednesday in a church parking lot in Hacienda Heights.

A sheriff's lieutenant says the woman returned to find the baby dead -- but apparently didn't tell anyone for days.

He says finally, yesterday, the woman led her father to the car. He found his grandson's body in the back seat and called police.

The cause of the baby's death is under investigation. Authorities say the mother has been arrested for investigation of murder.

Hacienda Heights is about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles

    Sounds like she was flat out stupid, and then just got stupider.

    Lee, no, only more likely in KA - *this* kind of stupidity knows no geographic boundaries. We've had similar incidents in NH. In a perfect world, everyone would be put on birth control chemicals upon reaching puberty and only those who can pass a test of common sense allowed to breed. Yeah, I know, Big Brother, but so many innocents die from this sort of thing . . . of course, the same crowd who parrots "if it saves just one child" when they agitate to eliminate firearms would be the first to complain about something like this.
