Sometime ago; within the last year I remember on the news that there was a Lawsuit against Remington.I can't remember all the details;but someone got shot accidently by a family member. They claimed that the gun fired when the Bolt of the Rem.Model 700 was closed. They said the gun malfunctioned and they knew of a few other 700's that had this problem.I have hunted with a 700 many years and know of many other hunters with the same gun with no problems. What were the results of the their Lawsuit ?

Many rifles and autopistols having sear blocking safeties can become dangerous when you adjust the sear engagement to a minimum in an effort to lighten trigger pulls. An accidental discharge then can happen after you pull the trigger with the safety on, release it and then release the safety or try to open the bolt.I believe Remington lost and it's too bad that after many years of blah guns they have a winner and then get blasted with a big judgement.I've heard of other Remington 700 ADs and would verify my safety if I owned one.
