were you ever in the military [?] if so depending on your DD214 history of where you served . You can get great MODERN types from the VA.
But real pain, the damn ring in my ears, tinnitus
All those years with jet engines whining,
I have Phonak hearing aids and they work great, but they are not giving them away!
what I have also,,
When you get serious about your hearing ...
That's great! I wonder if it would help me?
I lost about 80% of my hearing in '82 (right ear completely dead - except for roaring tinnitus) due to a brain tumor. Since then my hearing has been like a bad drive-in movie speaker (if you remember those.) Not the aid's fault, but just not much hearing ability left.
I have an Oticon now, but have had Widex, Starkey, Phonak and others.
All are good. Which one is "best" depends on your type and severity of hearing loss. My aids have always cost between $1,200 and $1,500, but my hearing is far inferior to someone who is losing it slowly to old age, so you "may" not need one that expensive. I would suggest you not buy one under about $600. Below that they are probably not very good.
I would recommend finding a good Audiologist and getting a hearing test which will tell the hearing aid fitter exactly what you need. Then go from there.
Good luck.
