Cabelas returns and our trip

Ended up not going where we intended yesterday, but did run to cabelas real quick. We had to get home because my mother in law is not doing good.

Anyway, I had to return some shoes my parents bought me for Christmas. They were cabela brand and fell apart. I called corporate and they said that they could not do anything without a receipt. My parents put them on a credit card and cannot find the receipt. I took them to their store in Delaware and a I told a lady at customer service what the deal was. She just smiled and went and looked for a new pair. They were out of stock. She went on their web site, ordered me a new pair and said, they are being shipped to your house and will be there by Tuesday. Wow. This is the first time I ever had no problem returning something to their store. I spend about five thousand a year there and every time it is a hassle to return stuff with a million excuses why they cannot do an exchange or refund. This girl rocks. She should be the store manager. This is what customer service is about.

I went shopping and bought some reloading dies, a Remington cleaning kit, 223 ammo and about two hundred dollars worth of other stuff. When I got to the counter, the girl said to me, I think the cleaning kit is on sale. It was like 109.00 and she said, I think it is on sale for 49.99. She looked and said, hmmmmm, I know it is on sale but cannot find it. How about 29.99. How does that sound. I started to feel a little faint. That will be fine ma'am. I also bought a really cool Tee shirt. It is the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation shirt with the navy seal frog on the front. I bought it for Chris, my son. I won't wear it because I never served and feel funny about that kind of stuff. Chris is into the military and is joining right after college. It is his life long dream. Having trouble right now keeping him in college and not letting him quit to join the Marines.

Anyway, great day at Cabelas. Now if my Mother in Law would just get better. That is not going to happen, but I wish it would. She is the only one in Donna's family that I really love.

Glad you had a good day there. I have only ordered on line from Cabela's, no store here yet but I have heard there will be in the future. But I have ordered from them for years, never had a problem with returns. Last one they actually sent me a replacement first, and had the return one picked up at the same time. I'm hoping we get a store nearby.

They are building ten stores per year average, I was told yesterday, by a manager. 90 days from start of construction, to grand opening. They use the same contractors and architects on all their buildings. They got it down pat. Those stores are just amazing to see, especially the one in Hamburg PA. Conservation Mountain in the back of the store will take your breath away, a long with the river that runs through the store and the fish aquarium. The river has live rainbow trout in it and a moose standing in the water look for something to drink. It has a mountain goat at the top leaping from one mountain to another. It goes on and on. You can spend the whole day there shopping, eating and taking pictures of all the amazing mounts, mountain and fish. You can go upstairs and look down on the mountain and take pictures form there also.

I went once with my kids and in the commotion left a 100 dollar boat seat behind. I called and they said they didn't see it but would just ship me another.. They have the best customer service

Cabelas has the best customer service. I had to return a pair of insulated bibs where the zipper had failed. They didn't carry that kind now, but upgraded me (at no charge) to the guide series insulated bibs.

    Just wow!

Damm John you spend 5K a year at Cabelas. I've got a hard time spending more then about $300 a year there. I'm not gonna pay their inflated prices although I find them cheaper then Gander Mountain. I've got one about 30 miles from my house. I will only go there if I'm driving by. They should spend more money in saleable stuff on the shelves rather then tie it up in animal mounts.

I give a lot of my family and friends gift certificates and buy a ton of clothes and all my hunting stuff there. Their clothes are all high quality and all have a good guarantee on them. I don't like bass pro or the other stores like them. I walked in and right back out of a Gander Mountain because all of their employees had a serious attitude. That was in Virginia.

ive had nothing but good experiences at their stores in minnesota, customer service always seems to be one of their strong points. This past hunting season I had a few pairs of the cabelas branded socks and to me, they didn't keep my feet as warm as I had expected...they happily took them all back and gave me store credit, even after the socks had been used! I drive past numerous ganders daily and don't even think about stopping. The only other store I like with great price and service is mills fleet farm,

Excellent customer service from the one here in Yakima. Biggest one I've been in was the new Anchorage, AK. Love the ship to the store for free option. Some of their gun prices can be odd but I've bought two guns there. A 10/22 & a Glock 32.

Ditto the prayers to your MIL!

I have always been fond of Cabela's...my goal is to visit every single one...but at the rate they are building, I might not make it...ever! :(

But I've never had anything but outstanding customer service--that is what makes that company for me. That and the credit card...Black is beautiful, baby!

In the Hamburg, Pa store used shoe/boot department there are shoes completely worn out. Buyers are taking advantage of a rediculous return policy there.
P,S. The Cub hanging from the ceiling has its' prop turning in the wrong direction and they wont change it. It may slow the plane and drop it in the trout pond beneath it.
