My neighbor just gave me a bag phone. He knows nothing about it and I know less. When I plug it into my car, it beeps. I have been told that it is analog and is a good thing but have also been told it is not digital and not worth a hoot. It only works when plugged into the auto. Should there be a battery with it? How do you activate this thing. How much does it cost? Is a good CB radio better? Thanks, Tom

tccox:bag phones can be great depends on what kind of cellure service you have in your area,, the phone should be able to be programmed for any of the different cell companies service, ask some of your freinds that have cell phones, find out what company they like and then take your bag phone down to their place of business and let them check it out ,, my bag phone can have a battery but I never use one I just plug it into the lighter ,, if you want a battery for it chance are it will take the same battery as a older cam corder, check with stores like best buy if you have them for batteries or radio shack,, you can also take the phone out of the bag and have it mounted right into your car, another good use for them is if you use ATV's you can take these all with on a hunt or ride as they will have farther range than a hand held cell phone , they have more power,, hope some of this helps!

Radio shack will have a converter that you can plug into an outlet and it has a place to plug in your "ciggarette lighter" style applicances including your bag phone.

Analog has superior recieve/transmit characteristics over digital.
Unfortunately, it's much more expensive to use as per phone plans.
I threw away two "bags' with extra batteries, accessories, when I bought my digital phones. Dumb move, should have given them away.
New truck has On Star(analog), and a Nokia AT&T digital phone. Hate using the AT&T digital, but it's six, yes 6, times cheaper.

    Happy Bullet Holes!
