On the radio yesterday afternoon I heard a School district in Madison Wisconsin banned the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of "Star Spangled Banner" (the music is ok, just not the lyrics) ... any one else hear about it?One thing so many people (and groups) like that don't seem to understand is that if it weren't for the freedoms this country has, they couldn't pull * like that.

Kimber, I don't know about that but by order of the Sec. of Education all schools in the nation were to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag at 2pm EST Friday 12 October 2001. I know we did it in my school as well as the other schools in our county. Of course Wisconsin sometimes marches to the beat of adifferent drum....but that would have to be a really different beat if it were true. Beach

This is interesting: http://civilliberty.about.com/library/briefs/bl013101.htm?iam=dpile&terms=+Pledge++of++allegiance Apparently the original Pledge contained a Nazi type salute. Also, I can't find a link but I once read that the Pledge would never have gotten off the ground if it hadn't been for the marketing acumen of a flag making company which saw an opportunity to boost sales nationwide.Well, this is all too late. The Pledge is NOW here to stay and is undeniably a statement of American patriotism, efforts to suppress it in these times is grandstanding of the lowest order.

rgr the original pledge did have a salute. After the term "to the flag" the hand was raised from the heart, pointed at the flag with the arm straight and the hand rotated 45 degrees clockwise. This was changed during WWII because it resembled the hated nazi salute. I remember when this was taught us in school. ( Oh yes we had the Pledge of Allegiancs AND prayer every morning. That was before the American Communist Liberal Union and some * named Murray came along, may she roast in hell) [This message has been edited by badboybob (edited 10-13-2001).][This message has been edited by badboybob (edited 10-13-2001).]

I tell you our end as a nation is in sight, forget about the enemy out there that wants to bring this nation down. These United States is being and will be brought down by the Liberals (which includes atheists, and believers in all sorts of other nonsense) of this Nation, who believe they know what is best for the country. The only reason the pledge is being banned from school is because it contains the word God.How can God bless America, when the people reject God.
