I need to find a plating shop that does food grade tin plating, can anyone make a recomendation? We have some older equiptment in the restaraunt that's getting a little worn. I'm wondering if replating would be cheaper than replacing.

have you looked in the Thomas Regester, good and services section, under platers, tin ? Your local libary should have a set, and they are also online.

I don't think tinning is the same as plating. The process as I have seen it is more or less like soldering. The plated item is heated, fluxed, and the tin is spread with a rag or whatever to coat the item. When I was in Turkey, the tinners woud go door to door looking for customers and they had a charcoal (like a bbq) burner on a wagon. Tom
