Started collecting Enfields a couple of years ago. The .303 is very respectable on the range and in the field, would not want to get hit with it. Good for deer and black bear. Love that bolt action. Lots of Enfields on the market and can be sporterized nicely with a Boyds walnut stock. Take your time looking for a nice one and don't pay too much or buy beat up junk.

Pack slow, fall stable, pull high, hit dead center.

I realy like Enfields. Have several of them. Even have a 1917 SHT converted to a .410 in 1941. I love to switch it with my #1 Mk 3 and then show somebody how I can shoot a .410 shell in my rifle. Has realy freaked some out. But then most people think I need a screw driver anyway.
The .303 is not far behind the .308. And ammo is very resonable.

I have a No#4 mk 2 and although I am lefthanded, I think for the money it is one of the best bolt actions out there. They are very smooth and after owning one I can see why some people consider it the best Bolt battle rifle out there.
