Something unusual...

Did something a little out of the ordinary today. I put my Cherokee up on ramps and thoroughly cleaned the underside. After I got done doing that, I coated it with three layers of bedliner. I did this out of curiosity to see how durable this will be. Anyone else ever do this? Most of the places I hunt, fish, and shoot are in BFE, and take a considerable amout of off-road driving to get to. I hope this works as well as I think it will. I'm going to let it cure for a day before I put it through some tests.

A guy I knew used to do that with his vehicles with road tar. This was in Pa. Rust capital of the US. Everyone else at the time got 5-6 yrs with their vehicles. He would get 9-11 yrs with his. I personally did it myself to a 67 Chevy pickup on the inside. What I did was take out the entire interior, paint the floor with the tar coating and while still wet I placed a sheet of plastic that I cut out to match the floor perfectly. When it dried, the plastic was in place and I could put the carpeting over it. This protected the floor from the inside and also killed a lot of road noise. Then I had the outside undercoated and the metal was protected from both sides.Believe it or not that truck still runs on my dad's old farm and I did that back in 1981.
