Fort Wayne gun show

The Fort Wayne, Indiana gun show is Saturday, Oct. 17th and Sunday, Oct. 18th. The show has been moved to the basement level, for the first time that I recall in the last twenty years. I saw a lot of new faces during the set-up tonight, so I'll have to walk around in the morning to see what kind of new stuff is on display.

If you're in the area, please stop by. This has always been one of my best gun shows, because they only have it five times a year, so it's not overdone and burned out, unlike the Gibraltar Trade Center shows.

Well, I spent yesterday collecting some things to take to trade at the gun show this weekend -- the weather was terrible here yesterday. Today, I spent a few hours at the show and came away partly satisfied. New leather holsters are getting expensive, but I can often find a good one in somebody's used box with patience -- found a nice DeSantis leather holster for my Charter Bulldog Pug for $20, still in the bag. I traded another guy 6 rounds of MagSafe .380 for 50 rounds of .44 Special with a Hornady XTP bullet. If it works well enough in practice I may keep some in the gun for stand-by; it's a regional manufacturer from Wisconsin, not once-fired reloads. I'll have to mail order for some more serious .44, I guess. I took a couple extra holsters and 200 rounds of Black Hills .223 SP to trade, but didn't find a taker with something I wanted, so I'll be auctioning soon.... I don't own an AR any more and I have over 300 rds. of Black Hills SP to sell or trade for good .44, four mil 20 rd mags, at least three probably-mil 30s and a black 40 left over. I still want to pick up some leather mag holders for my PD and my PT145 but didn't want to pay the cash prices at the show today for leather. The show had some nice pieces, including an old but decent looking Luger for only $250, possibly without a magazine though. I wasn't in the market at this point, so I didn't ask. Quite a number of long guns. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of vintage bolt actions or Mini-14s or of black rifle variations at this point, and I notice the Hi-Point carbine is out in a couple of variants including camo. This is still good wheelgun country so there are always some of those to pick over. Quite a bit of reloading stuff. Lots of military gun parts and surplus. And finally, it was over too soon. I should have started on Saturday. I'd have got more done. Can you say procrastinate? I can.

has started to smell. Went Saturday and no ammo, very few guns and they were WAY over priced. About time to give up on gun shows I guess. Was looking for a lever action 22 magnum and only saw two total. One was a Henry Golden Boy at $485.00 and the other one was a Marlin bolt action. Also wanted a CZ52 and only found two. Both guys said they were on consignment and they couldn't deal. Yeah I believed both of them. [;)]

Went to the gun show Saturday and saw some Chinese? people selling a lot of scopes that didn't look bad at all. Was going to make it back for a closer look but wife and grand son was ready to go. Problem is I can't remember the brand name to save my life. No deals at that show. One dealer would have a LCP for $359.95. Another one would have them for $279.95. Don't dealers think people price check? Someone tell me the brand of those scopes!![:)]

offeror, I to went to Fort Wayne today and all I bought was some of that cheap 8MM stuff. Shoots very well and very cheap shooting. Went to look for a Remington 582 but no luck and I had two other people helping me. Will keep looking. Rosie

Dangnabit. I was set to go to that show and this dumb weather did me in as it was my weekend behind the 8ball(on call) and wound up working this whole weekend. Definately going to make the S Bend show as I am looking for some stolen stuff that might just show up there.

Hey S&W remind me to tell you sometime about searching for a family heirloom Remington derringer stolen from my office in a burglary. Searched for nine months, but finally found it at the Valpo show. Dealer who had it purchased it legitimately from another dealer, who had purchased it from the burglar under highly questionable circumstances. Good news is I finally got it back; bad news was that the burglar wouldn't be prosecuted.Might make it to South Bend. Anybody else going?redcedars

S&W:l live in Cedar Lake, just a couple of miles east of the state line in Lake Co.We have family guests in from out of town this weekend (GF's daughter, worthless son-in-law and 3 grandchildren), so I probably won't be able to get to SB, let alone the Indy 1500. But I hit most NW Ind shows, so keep in touch and we'll hook up at one of them.redcedars

Rosie - The Nappanee show is held at a little place just west of Nappanee. Believe it is called Bontragers. I will check Monday and get the exact name and location and post it here.

The Nappanee gun show is held at Borkholders Dutch Village. It is just west of Nappanee on US 6 (main e-w road thru town). It is Saturda, March 30 from 8-4. There are normally signs posted along US6 directing you.
