Both brand and type. I am looking for something that is very comfortable as I will be doing a lot of hiking with this in AK. Must fit Taurus Raging Bull 6.5" model.

    I'm not going to venture far here, but from personal experiance I would not recomend a shoulder holster for a larg gun while hiking. I would recomend a leather quick draw hip holster with the split to the end of the trigger guard and a tensioning screw. That style works well with my 4" .357mag. I think it is a police duty design.

    You will get awful tired of dogging that revolver around on your hip.

    Try it around the house, the next time you spend time at home..go up and down the stairs a dozen or times.

    Galco makes very good shoulder holsters..don't know if they have a holster that fits that Taurus.

    I can wear my * leather all day and half the night carrying a .45..forget I have it on. *, by the way, is what Galco used to be..before PC took over.

    One of my friends has a S&W 500 and uses this holster...said it was the only one that he could carry the thing in all day and be comfortable.

    I am not sure if I could wear a shoulder holster all day. I carry my 44 Blackhawk in a Galco SAO holster worn in a crossdraw set up when I am hunting.

    Medic;
    I have been wanting to try one of those. I have seen some that ride up higher on the chest..looks to me like they would work well.

    Crossdraw seems to work...kinda..but still the weight of the gun drags down one side of the body. Admittily..when I was younger...I didn't notice it.

    A hip holster takes some adjusting to get used to it..learning to swing wider around objects, dumping the dirt out of the holster..that sort of thing..
