10 days ago I asked for input on the Glock vs Sig. I was ready to plunk down $730 for the sigbut when I got to the shop my friendly dealer had just taken in a Glock 17 in - shudder- 9mmIt was in new condition with a high cap mag and night sights and he wanted $475 I decided to go for it since I could always get most of my money back on a trade in . Forgive me but I really like it and it shoots great. Plus I've got $250 left to give to my wife for something really important?!!

Don't shudder at "9mm". I want a Glock 17 myself and am currently saving my pennies for one. It will be one of the most widely available calibers should there ever be a nation-wide or worldwide crisis forcing the end of ammunition production for civilians by manufacturers (i.e. ammunition control or world war). Some say that you should reload and stockpile to counter this possibility but I believe that everyone should own something chambered for 9mm along with firearms for a few other calibers.

Great Going. You will be another in the great line of Glock Lovers. Learn that trigger pull and find the point of complete slack removal. At the next slightest squeeze the gun will fire and you will find yourself duplicating this procedure to maximize your accuracy.BTW - Nite sites and a high cap mag for $475 is a heck of a deal.

Way to go. That's a good price. The factory hi-cap mag is worth 50 to 100 bucks. I have a model 17 that I bought new in 1989. I love it. Very accurate. Between '89 and '94 I loaded up on cheap factory magazines. I have 7 or 8 17-round Glock mags that I bought new for less than 20 bucks each and somewhere around 10 19-round mags that I bought new for less than 25 bucks each. The factory hi-cap mags are worth a fortune today. I've seen them in gunshows for as much as 100 bucks each. My magazines are probably worth at least three times what the pistol is worth.

I got one too, And I think it is the most reliable shooter on the market.See smittwee--did I get the spelling right? he will make sure you get all the extra goodies that go with that little 17, and will walk you through the breakdown, and trigger pull above mentioned.
keep lots of extra uppers for your ar..you can change often enough to keep the thing from over heating...what ever caliber fits the moment..~Secret Select Society of Suave Stylish Smoking Jackets~

Hickory,I just picked up a Glock 19 for my wife yesterday. I paid $400 with two pre-ban hi-caps. I've got a 17 with the 3.5# trigger, light striker spring, extended controls & night sites. I took hers in to get the 3.5 trigger and controls put on. You should love your Glock.Glocks were never apealling to me until I fired one. Then I had to buy the one I fired.H.[This message has been edited by HerbyJr (edited 10-22-2001).]
