Could not be used for hunting big game up here as hunting regulations require an arrow at least 20" long and 300 grains total weight, at least a 40# peak draw weight for deer, wolf, wolverine, sheep and caribou and 50# peak draw weight for goat, moose, elk, brown/grizzly bear, musk ox and bison. Used to be it had to shoot an arrow that weighed 425 grains including the head at a minnimum distance horizontally for 175 yards.

Not allowed to use rimfire to shoot big game except for caribou swimming in Units 23 and 26, don't know how this would be classified.

Interesting. It's not well known that an arrow with a broad tip will penetrate kevlar body armor better than a bullet.

    boeboe,
    Good point!
This might belong in the "JUNKYARD STORIES" thread but I'll tell it here instead.
Once had a friend who owned a local junkyard.
We were shooting a .357 at the windshield of an old mid 60's Buick and the 158 grain slugs would not penetrate the glass, they just ricocheted off.
I pulled out my Martin compound and tried the same thing with a 500 grain arrow with broadhead travelling at about 260 fps.
It went straight through the windshield and the backseat cushion and stopped in the trunk!

    NOW THAT'S PENETRATION!

    Aglore,
I think I get the point behind your signature.
    Well said.
I don't agree with some of your viewpoints, but I also respect a man that stands by his principles, even when he's taking heat for them.

Thats because Kevlar is not designed to stop a sharp point. A knife blade, if used to stab will pierce because the point will get between a few strands, and as they move, others follow suit, allowing a gap. In a slicing motion, if enough slices hit in the same small area, it will eventually cut through, but one or two passes will not generally "slice" through either, depending on the thickness.
