How about some A/C advise?

Ok, I called the A/C guy today ... all of them! 2 weeks until someone can take a look at it.

About 20 years ago I used to install A/C systems in new cars so I have a little knowledge of them, but this is a home unit (R22 system) but my wife asked me if I couldn't do something as I still have my manifold set and other tools ... and I just happen to have a 1/2 full 30 pound can of R22 thats about 5-6 years old ... well I hooked up the guages and my low side was about 70 and the high side was almost 300. temp of the low pressure pipe was about 60 degrees, temp at the vent closest to the A coil was 70 degrees ... it was around 100 degrees out today and humidity was high, probably between 70-80%

Oh yeah, the A-coil is clean and I just replaced the furnace filter, the air comming off the condensor doesn't seem all that hot like it has in years past and the fan seems to be running fine.

Any help out there?

Not being a smart * but get a window A/C unit. Its like I told my friend you cant go wrong with a window A/C unit or a .357 revolver. My window unit keeps my bedroom like a meat locker and with the energy saver setting burns very little electricity.I live down in Alabama so we have many days where heat is 100+ with 95-100% humidity and with my window unit you wouldnt even know itI added my window unit after trying the central and I saved money and heat aggravasion with it.I use that and the central for the rest of the house.
