I FIXED IT!!!!

We were asked to go on a day trip with friends not knowing we might of been stranded if not for (ONE) tool that I took with me.
I fixed this problem.
Can you guess what tool it was ?
Can you guess what the problem was ?

A 2002 Buick Regal 3800 series engine 42,000 miles and it's 106 degrees out.
The dash light, "Service Engine soon" comes on.
The engine starts to hesitate and at a light stalls and dies.
Can't keep it at 2000 rpm
Restarts and stays running at lower rpm but ruff idle.
Air-condition is still hanging in.
Engine stalls/dies and now I get behind the wheel.
I started it and held to 2000 rpm and shoved into drive.
It took off like a sick kangaroo and surprisingly hit the four lane doing 60 mph. with the engine occasionally hesitating.

We went about a mile in 106 degree temp. to a restaurant and after I finished eating I went out to the car to look for the problem.
I open the hood and in 2 min, (thanks to my tool) I came back in the restaurant and said, OKAY< it's fixed.

Are u sure wallie, the next stop is 200 miles away

They all got in and I started it up
Look wallie the light the light it is still on
I got a little wet piece of paper and put over the yellow, (Service engine soon) light and said, Is that better.
And off we went, doing 75 to 80 all the way home.

This TRUE little story is well documented as you will see and I hope it will help someone else as it did for us.
And what was the problem, who the hell knows.
But the tool, I would bet more than 90% reading this has one.
I'm thinking of giving a million dollar bill for the correct answer and another million for what caused the problem.

Back at the restaurant where we stopped to eat I took the tool in with me, YES , the tool u are looking at.
    My lap top computer.
After searching (Service engine soon) Number 2 in the list MAF (Massive Air Flow) sensor which regulates the air rich/lean flow to the engine seemed to be the cause.
With this 100 degree temp and probably other factors involved that had some kind of effect on the MAF.
A search of the MAF showed disconnecting it would help the airflow and according to different forums have no ill effects to the engine.
And sure enough I unplugged it and the tachometer stopped jumping around and it purr like a kitten.
But the service engine soon light is still on,
So a 13 year old car that has better gas mileage, more power, and idles the same as new, so the owner said.
Take it to a GM dealer and they will give u a 1000.00 bill and in 6 months or sooner the light will pop on again
