You say: "Tim Russert was not a member of this forum. He was a public figure and while Alpine's comment was uncouth it didn't violate posting guidelines."

So it's okay to say something *uncouth* about a respected man who just died, so long as that person is not a member of this forum? Is that what you just said?

So, let's say G.W. Bush should die tomorrow, it would be just fine with you if I posted about defecating on his grave?

It amazes me that people will go so far out of their way to hate (like you have nothing better to do that hypothetically defecate on the grave of a President).

Up to a point, yes. As a public figure Russert is fair game even in death. Now, having said that, I personally believe we should not "dance on the grave" and savage the recently deceased no matter how much we dislike him. Alpine's comment was, in my opinion, unfortunate but it didn't violate the Forum rules. Your response, on the other hand, was worse and was directed towards a Forum member. There is a difference, and you were on the wrong side of it.

Then, you come back and call me pig, which is also a violation (no referring to members by unflattering variations of their names). Note that I had not made any personal attacks on you (and still haven't). I merely pointed out where you were outside of posting policy. Disagreeing with the policy doesn't give you the right to insult me.

Thank you for using my correct name in the title of this thread, BTW.

So, you can continue to throw a hissyfit over nothing, or you can be an adult and forget about it and move on.

    Which do you prefer?

PS: I don't know who just locked this but I am unlocking it so that I don't get accused of locking the thread to have the last word.

Let's save the grave dancing for Teddy the K and the like. (Clintons, Pelosi Obama etc.)
Russert was likeable and IMO commanded a certain amount of respect for asking the tough questions to both sides.
But there is no question that he was a biased Liberal Socialist.
I heard a statement today that he "loved his country". IMO being a Liberal and loving the USA are NOT compatable terms.
IMO one less enemy of our country.

    I can see both sides.
Yes, a man died. A tragic thing.
But Russert was a heavy hitter for the OTHER TEAM. You know, the one that wants to take our guns, give amnesty to illegals, tax us 50+%, turn the Gitmo terrorist lose. Need I go on?
We're in the political fight of our lives in this nation. And Russert was the ENEMY.
It's like an enemy soldier dying on the battlefield. Tragic a man lost his life. But you're not really sorry to see him go.

Wow some people can be thin skinned around these parts. I remeber back when I made my sigline with the star wars kid, and someone thought I was wrong for it. I mean like they said what if that kid joined this forum and saw himself dancing around on one of my posts. Lighten up buddy, in life people will say things that will OFFEND you, thats just the way it is. Deal with it, not everyone follows the "PC" world that we are forced to live in.

Tim Russert gave the best interviews. He was about as "fair" as they come on the Sunday morning shows, and far and away the most professional.

    I will miss him.

Unfortunately, most GB posters care little about your points. What matters most it seems is, if he is Christian, hates foreigners and Japanese cars, drives like old Communist screw (slow and in the left lane), watches NASCAR, and tells really stupid jokes.

Fair and most professional of the Sunday morning hosts isn't really saying that much. The bar is pretty damned LOW in that respect.
Don't forget, Russert was a dept. head of perhaps the most liberal TV network news in the nation. Even if was personally more likable than some of the others, ulimately HE was the architect for ALL the Liberal spin at NBC news.
Many dangerous people are likable. Manson's followers thought he was Jesus Christ.
Just because I don't sugar coat my opinions to appeal to some peoples PC sensibilities doesn't make me a NASCAR loving redneck moron.
