The USPS has a Form 1508 that the sending FFL completes when submitting the firearm for shipment. I recently shipped a junk Ruger insured for $300 from Iowa back to Ruger in Connecticut for $13.00. I try to get every seller to ship USPS instead of spending the $20 to $30 on UPS or FedEx. Distributors will not take the trouble to ship using USPS.

I use Priority Mail using their boxes.

Ask the PO for a Priority Shipping box they are free and come in several sizes. Wrap it bubble wrap. Do not put anything on the outsude of the box to indicate it contains a firearmNo Problem.

Some USPS will not take it unless ALL, yes ALL seams, edges, even sides are covered with plain brown paper tape. Done so they can stamp it, and the ink dries, not smearing. This is a postal shipping/packaging regulation as theft, disturbance, and damage security. Should be sent Registered.I have the USPS regs if you need them. Glad to dig out of my new filing cabinet,...now, only if I can find the cabinet.

I live in a rural Colorado town. When I shipped my first handgun FFL to FFL after moving here from Houston, I told the clerk and asked if she needed to see my license. She declined, saying they knew me as a local resident. I have shipped 30-40 more since then and never say a word as to contents.
