Heres another better round question... the .450 marlin, or the 45-70govt. the 2 look so similar . whats the difference

lets all be responsible! shoot a criminal!

    The .450 Marlin was created because the old .45/70 was underpowered by today's standards. Beefing up the .45/70 ammo was not the answer with so many older and weaker guns out there. So, the new Marlin .450 is simply a supercharged .45/70 that is belted to prevent its use in .45/70 guns.

    If you like the .45/70 and reload, it is safe to use higher pressure ammo in the Marlin 1895 lever action and the Ruger #1. Be sure to check a reloading manual if you choose to do this.
