Sentry Gun Safe Owner Question.

I have a 14 gun Sentry safe in a closet and want to hook up my Golden Rod unit. Where should I look for the access port for the power cord? My hope is to find it from the interior since moving it out of the closet (while the location would be obvious) would be a pain.

Thanks guys,

I checked 1911 with no lock. I have just a carpet on the floor. Thinking about it, since the safe has a flat bottom the access has to be down low but on the back or side. I can see one side and nothing there. I think my only option is to take it out of the closet and that's a big job. I wonder if they all have access. This one is about 12 years old.

When I installed mine, I noticed a couple of holes in the back, about mid way up. (If I recall correctly)

You should be able to feel them through the carpet liner on the back.

just my 2 cents . I would just put a hole where I wanted it may have to use a regular bit for the housing and a masonry / concrete bit for the inner layer as most safes are lined with it .
then install a grommet and seal with some fire stove sealant or silicone .

I had one before, it had a 2 piece carpeted floor, I lifted that up and it had some black felt I had to pull up, it was on the left side iirc

O.K., you can't do it any more lame than I did. I couldn't find an access hole in my big safe so I just measured and drilled a hole near the floor at the back. I drilled and drilled and thought I should be through the back. Just about then I saw lead shot coming out of the drilled hole.[?]

It seems I forgot there was a case of shotgun shells in the bottom of the safe.[:0]

There, now the whole world knows! I'm glad I didn't drill through the primer end.[:o)]

I just have mine in the bottom left corner of the door. The cord that is. Never had an issue. I have an older Sentry 14-gun safe as well and didn't find a hole.

Thanks for the replies guys. I e-mailed Sentry and they said to expect an answer in 3-5 days. Friday is day #5. If I don't hear from them I'll get the hole saw out this weekend.
