Indiana gun laws

Can someone tell me the age for a person to legally possess a firearm? Pistol? Rifle? in the state of Indiana. My daughter is living in Indiana right now and going to college there. She lives off campus. She is still legally a Kentucky resident if that makes any difference.

To possess a handgun at her residence, she does not need a license, but if she wishes to carry off her property, she needs either an indiana license, or a Kentucky license/CCW, since she is still a legal kentucky resident.

Can legally carry on campus, but the her school may have "rules" against it that do not bear the weight of law. There is no state law prohibiting guns on college campuses.

IC 35/47 is where most of the gun laws you need to read can be found.

She just wants something at her residence for protection. If she can possess a handgun, I'll just leave one with her next time I visit. She is almost 19 years old.

Don't just give it to her - take her out to get familiar with it. If you are in central IN, I'll be happy to take both of you out to my club to practice.

She can possess it at residence. To carry it she must have permit, either IN or KY. The lifetime here is $100.00 for a renewal and $125.00 for a new one.

I would actually be giving her one of her own firearms. She has several in my safe. Her and I have been shooting together since she was about 9 years old. I'm just not quite sure at what age I should give them to her for good.
