Guns from receiver blanks: questions

It's possible to buy an aluminum AR receiver blank and mill it out to make it functional. Finish building the rifle and now you have a functional AR with no serial number.

1. As far as I know, this is legal. Anybody know different?
2. If one were to do this and then decide that they no longer wanted the rifle, would it be legal to sell or give it to somebody else? I know you couldn't do it for profit....I'm asking about one rifle and one transfer.

    just like the a.k. flats
    legal for PERSONAL USE ONLY
however it can be given to a family member
i also believe (this i am not entirely sure on) that it can be sold IF you permanently stamp or engrave your name and s.s. on it to prove maker.
    ...legally that is...

wouldnt making a firearm and then selling it make you a manufacturer, thus requiring a license?

for the time being, it is still very much legal to buy an 80% receiver(or theoretically cast your own 0% and start from there) and finish it. however, i dont see that continuing to be legal much longer, depending on who is elected....

I think you would have to put your own serial # on it but don't quote me on that.

Yes, you can make it but my understanding is that it can NEVER be sold. I believe the inheritance thing is correct.

Why not just buy one (receiver or complete weapon) from a stranger at a gun-show in a face to face transaction ... a lot less work and a lot less expensive unless you already have the equipment.

By the time I bought everything I needed to make an AK from a flat I had spent enough to buy several receivers ... so I made 5 just to break even!

Only thing is, I've filled out so many yellow sheets the BTAF already knows where I live and that I have a couple firearms ...

but I'm not worried because they don't keep records [xx(]
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

kid, that will work just fine in Indiana but other states don't allow it. Naturally, anybody can buy a piece from anybody-anywhere. It's just a matter of it's a legal transaction.
