She Had a Sprite on the Bedside Table

My fiancee has a sister, Pat, who was admitted to the hospital 4 days ago.
She is in ICU.
Pat is 62 years old, very obese, and has diabetes. She has pneumonia. It is touch and go as to whether she will survive this.

Shirley went to visit her yesterday, and she saw a Sprite on the bedside table there in ICU. She asked Pat about it, she said "The nurse said it is OK."
A minute later the nurse walked in and said "You can't drink Sprite. You have diabetes." The nurse dumped the Sprite into the sink.
Shirley looked around and found another Sprite hidden in the drawer, and she dumped it out.
It turns out Pat's grandson has been hanging around the room, she gets him to go down to the lobby and buy Sprite and then smuggle it up to her room.

I mean, I feel sorry for this gal and hope she recovers. But the last thing a person with diabetes, who is in a medical crisis, needs is a sugary Sprite. Sprite is toxic for her, it is a poison.
I imagine her doctors are just shaking their heads.

There are plenty of enablers out there helping people kill themselves. Plus your fiancee's sister is a liar on top of it. This is merely a pit stop.

My wife has been a nursing home nurse for 40 years. This happens all the time.
It's too late for me, save yourself.
