Laws used to justify Immigration checks

Laws used to justify Ariz. sheriff's raids upheld
USA Today 16 hours ago

PHOENIX - A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the laws used to back Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's workplace raids will remain on the books, capping off a two-year lawsuit that claimed Arizona's identity-theft statutes targeted immigrant workers. In his decision, U.S. District Court Judge David Campbell found that while the laws did largely affect undocumented immigrants, they also served as a legitimate law-enforcement tool in combating identity theft. "The laws were passed in part for their effect on immigration by unauthorized aliens," he wrote, "but the legislature was also addressing a pressing criminal problem that adversely affected Arizona residents." Arpaio's brand of illegal-immigration ...

The feds don't care, they are going to make an example of Joe to make sure other sheriffs don't think they can thumb their noses at the Feds.

They will seek another avenue to make sure those that think like Joe are put on notice.

Much of this will likely change when Trump takes office. He needs to start with the border states in replacing US Attorneys to those have actually have law and order in their hearts.

Now watch the Democraps whine and complain when Trump starts replacing the APPOINTED us attorneys.

Every administration does it, but the Democraps complain when the repubs do it.

Joe's one of the original good guy, law-upholding elected officials that also happens to be effective, which is why the (D)s hate him.
    Their playbook only has one page;
    1-Lie
    2-Deny Everything
    3-Destroy the evidence while stalling
    4-Blame Bush
5-Create a diversion by bombing an aspirin factory
6-Claim your detractors are guilty of the same thing
7-Project your traitorous behavior onto your opponent
8-Claim amnesia from a mysterious head injury
    9-Run for President
    10- See #1, above

I thought Joe lost the election. Convenient. Throw the lawsuit out as he leaves the orifice.

Joe did loose the election and is no longer sheriff. Feds had more than a small hand in making that happen. A victim of the Obama administration and big liberial money. I also wonder how many illegals , and dead people voted in his election.

At 84 years of age , that also may not have played well for him.

I wouldn't hesitate to vote for him if he wants to move north.

I have to think there was some political influence in this decision. It's been in the courts for a while. I think the decision came pending the election results. I'm willing to bet if Hillary had won this might have gone the other direction.

Joe was voted out mostly because of his age. He's 84. A Phoenix Newspaper columnist that loves open borders and hates Joe predicted that Trump will pardon him as soon as he can. He deserves to be pardoned or just have the charges dropped. He was only doing what we wanted him to do.

Ok I got to stir the pot.

His mandate isn't to do what anyone wanted him to do. It was to uphold the law.

He did some amusing things with outdoor prisons and pink pajamas several decades ago. I was a fan.

But he violated the 4th amendment rights of a lot of people. This decision notwithstanding.

I like the 4th. It's one of my favorites. Right up there with the 2nd and 1st.

Do illegals have 4th amendment rights ? Do illegals have the right to anything in the constitution? Like protesting? Free Speech?

If they do, who pays the costs? Should a fund be set up? Legal representation ? Court costs?

Slippery slope and getting slippier all the time:

Arizona law SB1070 allowed Joe to question people who appeared to be illegal immigrants about their immigration status and to turn over people who proved to be illegal to ICE. Of course people who love the idea of open borders would pretend to be illegal and then sue the system for racial profiling. This led to several lawsuits. Something you didn't see on the nightly news. When SB1070 was passed thousands of illegals left the state and our crime rate dropped 30% across the board. quote:Originally posted by bigoutside
