Now I have been watching the auction on the above item. It has ended. The Starting price was 200 dollars with no reserve and with one bid a guy bought it for 299.00 can someone explain this to me. Now I have to check out and go to the gun Show. Man I hate it when I walk up to some of them tables and the little creatures are wispering to me "Buy Me, Buy Me" and my wife dosn't understand that because of my Kind heart I want to adopt them and bring them home.......

Im not sure but I think its a ripoff. If you have a licensed (legal)M-16 and your sear breaks I believe you can replace it. Its a twenty dollar part and readily available. No matter when this sear was made if its not registered as a machine gun it will be illegal to modify a semi-auto with it. Registered auto sears sell for 2500.00 and up now. So I dont understand what made this one so special. I would appreciate it if somebody could explain it to me.

This was a "drop-in" auto sear, which, along with certain M16 parts, can be used to convert an unblocked Ar-15 to select fire, with no permanent modification of the AR-15. To install an M16 auto sear in an AR-15, a hole has to be drilled in the receiver. Using the drop-in auto sear, which contains an auto sear in a carrier that is held by the rear push pin lug, no drilling is required. The auto sear sold on this acution is NOT the auto sear used in an M16, which is a readily available, unrestricted part. Those "drop-in" auto sears made after November 1981 have been ruled to be machine guns. Possession of those made before November 1981 and the necessary M16 parts I believe has also been ruled to be possession of a machine gun, perhaps even if no AR-15 is also possessed.

So ownership of this sear and an unregistered ar-15 rifle would be illegal. This sear is legal for registered ar-15 full auto conversions that were done before the ban. Thanks for explaining this to me.
