Remington has been making firearms in Ilion, NY since 1816 but New York's "SAFE" gun law is jeopardizing 1,300 jobs and the entire economy of the small village. It would be a travesty to lose them, both historically and economically.
Three states trying to lure Remington Arms out of Ilion

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - As lawmakers at both the state and federal level crack down on gun control, the union for works at Remington Arms in Ilion say other states are working to lure the plant away.
According to Frank "Rusty" Brown, the local chairman of the United Mine Workers 717, the states of Michigan, Texas and Oklahoma are all currently trying to lure Remington out of Ilion and to their state.
A letter was hand delivered from the Union to lawmakers in Albany that urged them to consider the 1,300 employees in Ilion when making decisions about gun control, Brown said.
Brown says the three states are offering great opportunities, including state of the art facilities and tax incentives.

Para Ordnance moved to NC several years ago also.
They should dump the Union and move to VA, SC or GA, or some other southern state that would appreciate the jobs.
One would think they'd be equally, if not more, welcome in some of the western states.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Toss the good ol' WV in that group, too!
I saw the devastation in my own home town of Rome, NY when the BRAC Commission closed Griffiss AFB. What was once a thriving city is now just a shell of its former self.
Capt. Jack Sparrow.
has a nice ring to that[;)][^]
Ilion, NY is an old, small village about an hour from me. Losing Remington would devastate them. Not only would 1,300 workers lose their jobs but numerous small businesses would go out of business, not to mention the tax losses.

Didn't they lose Beech Nut Baby Food out that way several years ago.
The conditions in NV would also benefit the factory. Lots of willing workers, gun friendly citizens, and no income tax. [:D]
And Harry Reid?
Remington home headquarters is in Madison, NC. They could easily move everything here.

They have a parts distribution center in Salem VA
Too old to live...too young to die...
Remington will be moving to Tennessee. Remember, you heard it here first.
I heard that same rumor. I hope it is true. We already have Barret making .50 cals in Murfreesboro. Remington or any other firearms company would be welcome here.
If they move how long will it take them to start producing guns at new location, ball park figure? and if they stop * to move will remington guns go up in price?
If they move it will be a 3 day start up .
Close on Friday ---- open for business on Monday .
All new equiptment installed months before and new employees already trained .
Wonder how those Union guys feel about their votes ?
Give incentives to the 1300 to leave with the plant.
And bring their union ways and liberal votes with them ?[xx(]
How many Republican politicians did you ever see who initiated more restrictive gun laws? Most are 2A supporters in action and deed. Not like our prez who's suddenly decided he's a skeet shooter, yet no one, including the White House photographer, can produce a single photo showing him holding a gun. Much less shooting one.

That was Canajoharie. It was an economic tragedy for that small town as well.
Just read a news article about how companies and people are relocating from Commiefornia to Texas. We'll take those that are willing to work and contribute, the rest can stay where they are.
Probably move to Mexico or China like a lot of other companies. Cheaper labor, taxes and about everything else and even no environmental laws to worry about.
Yep.
Give incentives to the 1300 to leave with the plant.
That would be outstanding if a majority left, tax base gone, production taxes gone. NY made their bed. Let them live with their decisions.
Companies are not obligated to stay in communities where they are currently located, especially if the state level politicians are actively hostile to the company's business interests.
