Ruger - how they handled a warranty

Some of you may recall my problem with a Ruger 77/22 mag rifle...that shot 13" low at 35 yards. Well, I finally got around to shipping it back to Ruger (they paid the shipping costs). Last Friday, they sent me a letter stating they agreed with my assessment of the problem and they wanted to "scrap" the rifle. They asked if I would go along with them sending me a new rifle as replacement. Naturally I did, so it looks like the problem is resolved. They said they would take care of the serial number change in their records to make it in compliance with BATF regulations.

Thought ya'll might want to know how Ruger handles warranties...which I think is pretty good.

P.S. I have also had great service with Springfield honoring warranties...for whatever that is worth. They and Ruger have been excellent to do business with.

Years ago i sent a beat up mark 11 pistol to Ruger to get it rebuilt.I fully expected to pay for this.It came back 3 weeks later with almost everything but the barrel replaced.NO CHARGE.Guess they are still great today.

I think Ruger is is great. Years ago I sent a 77 back for reblue, but didn't send any parts that didn't require work. They did the work, and returned the rifle along with all the metal parts needed for a complete rifle.Charged me only for the bluing.Bob

I've had many Ruger's over the years.
    Still have four 10/22's,A Slabside,the
    Super Blackhawk 10.5"S/S,and a .44 carbine
    (Deer Stalker).Just sold the 77 MkII .270
because the guy had more money than brains.
I've never had to repair any(not even the 10/22
that's been behind the seat for umpteen years).
Is this becoming a testimonial for Ruger quality?
    Or what?[;)][^][:D][;)][^][:D]

Bobby- I purchased my 10/22 in 1964, ser#1xxx,the month it came out. I have purposely never cleaned it in all those years. I cannot tell you the dozens of bricks of ammo I have shot through it.It has fired every known brand of ammo I've purchased. What more could you ask for?-Bob

I bought a Ruger lemon defective new .45LC Vaquero early this spring. I could not believe how Ruger left this firearm past any inspection. Being a Ruger shooter for more than 30 years, this was very disappointing to say the least.

They replaced the Vaquero after some haggling about repairing the deffective weapon and I had to pay shipping both ways and the new transfer fee. I was not happy with that. I found the customer service to be less than cooperative with this matter and they almost lost a customer for good.

I wrote them a very polite letter about the matter and have never gotten a reply.

pa, Yes I did know there was a difference but had two or three sets of rings to compare and figured it out! [:D][:D]
Worst case of machining I've seen was a Ruger 77/22 that had to be totally remachined to make the bases and rings work!!! There was not enough adjustment in the scope (Leupold 3x9) to make it work like it came from the factory! Second worse case was varminthunters rifle that when you mounted the scope, it was aimed 3 feet to the left at 25 yards!!! [:)][:)]GHD

I bought my first ruger a 10-22 in the early 70's great little rife.I liked it so much I bought a single six 22, 22mag pistol.Boy did I like that pistol.Someone stoled it or I miss placed.I bought another single six at a discount store. Its one real lemon, i can't hit a 2 foot square target at ten yards.I tried for two years to get ruger to help me out,an finally gave up.It seems the front sight was tapped about an eight of an inch off.Oh well.

While we are giving them, here is an old testimonial about Ruger.

About 15 years ago I sent them a P85 I had taken in trade. It had a broken extractor. I was fully expecting to receive a bill from them. But they repaired it at no cost, and when they sent it back to me, they included a new high cap magazine to cover my original shipping costs.

Like I say, I have had nothing but good experiences with Ruger.

Good to hear of another example of standing behind a product.
I've had nothing but good luck with Ruger Customer Service and Repair.
    Hope they keep it up.

We have dealt in the gun business since the late 60's and Ruger is hands down the best company to deal with concerning warranty items, repair procedures for out of warranty guns and just plain customer service.
Browning is impossible to deal with, Remington you get some service but usually several petty charges for different things. Marlin has been pretty good lately.
I dont remember ever having to pay for any service that Ruger has done on one of our weapons or a customer item. We had a guy break his trigger guard off a 77MKII last year first day of hunting season , I called Ruger and we had the part next day in the shop NO CHARGE.
Ruger also supplies rings with most of their guns , if the set they send you wont fit the particular scope you want to mount, then you can send them back to Ruger and they will exchange the right ones that you need. The only cost for you, to ship the rings to them. They are tops ..
