I'm getting better...

Saw a S&W Model 58 on the suction side. I resisted the urge to contact the seller and mention it has the incorrect stocks. A few years ago I would have done that but now I know that sellers rarely appreciate info like this or he already knows and is hoping bidders don't notice.

    Most likely the latter Doc.

I contacted a seller about one of his rifles once, merely pointing out a detail he forgot to add. I received a nasty email back telling me to stay out of his business. I calmly waited until his auction was over and emailed him the link to another rifle that was identical to his....only it had the correct description, was in worse shape, and still fetched a couple hundred more dollars. I never received a response.

    Frank..

I am thinking about buying that Smith.
    I have the proper stocks.
Stocks that are on there will
    bring a quick C note.

I think the $999 start is high. I see nice ones going $700. But if you want it there it is.

I confess that I don't know what to do with a 58. It doesn't do anything that other models don't do better. I admit that I have one, though. Bought it (police trade it) as a curiosity around 1988 for $189. Should have bought all of them for profit.

I was looking at a blued one. Always wanted one in nickel. Don't know why.

I just received an Uberti Schofield. Condition was quite good with a faint drag line, but a slicked up trigger as well. I discovered the front sight had been filed, perhaps to see the silver better than blued, perhaps to lower it. When I let the seller know I had received the revolver, I said I would have mentioned the filed sight in the description. He replied, "sorry I did not notice it."

It can happen. I bought a C&R rifle years ago that was all corroded under the wood. Seller probably got it in and moved it out without ever removing the stock. On the 58 the seller may not know the 58 came with unique stocks. Maybe people don't know this.
