Motorhomes and firearms transport

Long ago I spoke with a gentleman who did a lot of traveling by motorhome, and always did so armed. He was able to show me a copy a supreme court decision that stated a motorhome was to be considered a HOME and not a vehicle when it came to search by authorities and carrying of firearms.Anybody know any details or information on this? ARE R/V's considered differently by police and the law? If so, are the POLICE aware of this generally?
