Help with Id of older S&W

I was given a older S&W 38 special. I need help identifying the model number and aprox. value. I have no use for it and plan on selling I just have no idea what it's worth. The blue on the barrel is in pretty rough shape but mechanically it's great.

The picture of the left side is just enough out of focus to prevent reading the markings. What is stamped on the frame inside that crane?

the grips are not original to the gun

Those are assembly numbers used by the factory.
You have what is called a hand ejector model, m&p.
Post the serial number for date.

Get better pics....your serial number is on the frame under the grips. People pay a lot for the right Smith....

Looks like a Hand Ejector Model 1905, made before WW 2, and before S&W started the model number. Button on end of ejector rod is one feature that jumps out on the pre-Model 10s.

It's a Military & Police Model. The big ejector rod head makes it 1923 or earlier. If the serial is 32640 it is an early variation made before 1914. Stocks are incorrect. Given it's condition maybe $200-$300.

PS: S&W didn't temper the cylinders until around serial 165,000 so I don't care to shoot guns of this vintage.

I shot an older Smith like that one and cracked the cylinder.
