Gun Control Doesn't Work:
Germany Shows Us the
Failures of a Foolish Policyby David Goree

Today, April 26th 2002, Erfurt Germany: A 19 year old former student walks into his old school and shoots to death 14 teachers, 2 students, a police officer and himself. This, in a country with some of the strictest gun control laws in the world. How many of those victims of this slaughter, and all the others worldwide like it, would still be alive if merely 10% of the teachers in the school had been armed? Here in North Carolina, even a teacher that has a concealed carry permit cannot carry a weapon to school. It is a felony for them to do so in direct violation of the Second Amendment.

Let us go back to the Columbine disaster, while the body-armored SWAT teams sat outside, several of the victims bled to death from their injuries, including the only teacher to die in that assault. If there had been a handful of armed and trained teachers in that school that day, how many lives would have been saved? Additionally, why can we not protect ourselves by buying proper modern body armor such as is available to police and military only?

Vote Libertarian and you will be able to.

The Libertarian Party is the ONLY political entity that is 100% for the absolute preservation of the Second Amendment, and the rights of all citizens to defend themselves.

The government, and those that favor gun control, believe that the police can protect you from harm. I say that is not their job directly, their job is to pick up the body, and hopefully arrest and convict someone for the crime. It is the job of each of us to provide our own personal defense. You may choose to do this by taking self-defense classes, you may choose to live in a place that you do not feel in danger, but that is an illusion, as danger is everywhere. But, you are not allowed, by law, to own proper body armor or current top weapons technology, only the government can do that.

Unless you Vote Libertarian...

After September 11th, there have been many calls to arm our pilots, but the anti-gun lobby has contained this discussion with their usual scare tactics. How can we trust our pilots with a big Boeing, that has proven to be much more effective weapon than a gun, but not trust them with a personal gun? Imagine the scene aboard one of the Sept.11 aircraft if one of those pilots had been armed with a 10mm pistol and frangible ammunition. Hijackers armed with box cutters rush the cockpit. The copilot pulls out their 10mm and shoots the first 2 hijackers in the head...if nothing else this is going to dramatically slow the progress of the others getting over the bodies of their associates. The copilot then has time to take aim and shoot the remaining 3 hijackers...WTC1still stands. All for the lack of a pistol in the right hands. Our airline pilots are usually ex-military or are extremely capable of learning new procedures and equipment, they can certainly handle the training required to safely operate a firearm in their aircraft, assuming they have the proper ammunition, that will not penetrate the pressure vessel of the aircraft.
Even the general public, if shown to be properly trained and sensible, should not bed is armed in any place they feel the need to be armed. On private property, the property owner must have the right to allow weapons or not. The government must not have that right. I see a system where airlines, not the government, would have the right to tell their customers if they can be armed or not. Airline A would follow current policy to make jumpy people feel safe. Airline B could say that all passengers that show competency can carry on their flights as long as they show that they have appropriate ammunition.

I guarantee Airline B would NEVER get hijacked...We have already proven that Airline A can be.

I am a licensed commercial pilot and former flight instructor, and have many friends in the industry still, and they are all making plans to use their aircraft as a weapon against future hijacking attempts. Abrupt pitch changes will bounce any loose people against the ceiling and the floor and the ceiling and the floor...but this is not great for the other passengers or the aircraft. it would be much better for our pilots to just be able to shoot the bastards..

Vote Libertarian...Ensure Freedom Survives
