Debbie Loudmouth Schultz: "Staffers are starving!"

This moron is more concerned about the Congressional menu than the real problems in this country. [:(!]

Automatic federal cuts are bringing staffers to the brink of starvation, suggested Debbie Wasserman Schultz, at a recent House Legislative Branch Appropriations Subcommittee hearing.

Restaurants on the House side of Congress are increasing in cost so much that aides are being "priced out" of a good meal, she said, as Fox News reported. The comments came by way of a discussion about the impacts of the sequester on lawmakers' office budgets. Rep. Jim Moran said he may be forced to lay off a staffer - and then Ms. Wasserman Schultz weighed in with her tale of hard times.

Just to clarify: An 8-ounce bowl of Ham and Bean soup at the Cannon Office Building's carry-out caf? costs $2. A gourmet wrap or sliced bread sandwich sells for about $5. And in the Longworth Building's sit-down cafeteria, a serving of stuffed chicken, asparagus and mashed potatoes sells for about $7, Fox News finds.

Meanwhile, Ms. Wasserman Schultz's staffers earn between $60,000 and $160,000 per year, Fox News reports.

If her staff cannot afford lunch, maybe she needs to pay them more, or tell them to do like the rest of us and get a second job. And then, there is always the option to bring their own lunch from home.

between $60,000-$160,000 per year? Hmm... Seems to be a pretty substantial gap there... I wonder what she claims on her tax return. I've about had it with government officials. All of them. I strongly believe that there is not a single honest one left.

Between Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Michele Bachmann the two big parties are well represented by the worst possible examples of what women can bring to American Politics.

    OH NO!
At those food prices for cafeteria food, those staffers wont be able to afford their $10.00
Venti half white mocha, half cafe vanilla, ez ice, with 2 shots pour appigato style (over the top) with whipped cream and caramel drizzle frappachino.

If you make 160k, or 60k for that matter, and can't afford lunch, you are doing something wrong.

Obama has 5 chefs on Air Force One. He might have to tighten his belt and cut them to 4! [:0]

A 60K salary is a good wage, no matter what, a great wage in some places. They also get some really good perks to go along with that salary so they need to quit crying and suck it up. Live within your means like the rest of the people.

With my messily E5 pay I can afford lunch at those prices. Why can't someone making $160k? Some people need to learn how to budget.

$60,000 - $160,000 for a staffer???? My wife and I feed and clothe three kids, pay bills and a mortgage for under $48K per year!!!

I don't care what part of the country you are in, if you can't make it work on $60,000 per year you are not even trying!!!

Damn politicans and their staffers need to live in the real world with the rest of us!

I wish the jackwagon in north korea would hurry up and nuke washington dc so we can start over.........[:D]

Actually the cost of living in the DC/NOVA area is pretty outrageous. $60K is probably more like $36K where I live 3 hours west of DC. So they're not starving, but its not like $60k in most places in this Country.

Seems like a 5% across the board pay cut for all Federal employees, including retirees, benefits, would go a long way towards eliminating the problem.

Solve the problem, pay returns. Staffers craft most of the legislation, so obviously they are not doing their jobs.

Not sure of the what the Prices are now. But what ould it cost you to eat in the Mess hall while in the states and drawing comrats. Know in the 90's it would be about $12 a day.

Never mind I found it but last years prices.

quote:"The price of breakfast increased to $2.45 from $2.30, lunch rose to $4.55 from $4.25 and weekend supper increased to $6.40 from $5.95," reads the report. And while that doesn't seem like much for those of us accustomed to splurging on b?nh m?s, remember that most uniformed folks ain't exactly rolling in the dough.

Sounds like our folks in the Military pay more than congress does.

When I went through some financially difficult times, Raman noodles was on the menu for numerous nights. Other nights it would be tortillas with refried beans. If I wanted to splurge, I'd throw a slice of cheese in it. I didn't cry about it. I worked to get myself out of that situation.

... and these times will come to pass.

She is the most despicable, ugly * b**** that I have ever had the pleasure of not meeting.

Keep in mind that her district in S. Florida is the equivalent of NYC.

She always looks like she needs a bath, and to wash her hair to me.[xx(]
